How to store Mounjaro: fridge, travel, and everyday tips

Mounjaro is a fridge-line medicine. Below are the storage principles – with the exact in-use time and temperature to be confirmed against the current SmPC and pen labelling before you rely on them.

Storing your pens

Unopened pens: keep refrigerated at 2–8°C, in the original carton to protect from light. Keep them away from the freezer compartment and the fridge’s back wall, where freezing can occur.

The pen in use: Mounjaro KwikPens are commonly kept out of the fridge for a limited period once in use.

The one hard rule: never freeze

Do not use a pen that has been frozen – freezing damages the medicine and it does not recover on thawing. If a pen has frozen or you suspect it has (for example, it sat against the fridge’s back wall, or was checked into an aircraft hold), do not use it; contact us for advice.

Delivery: how it reaches you safely

We dispatch Mounjaro in temperature-controlled packaging designed to hold fridge-safe conditions in transit. Unpack and refrigerate the pens the same day they arrive. If a delivery arrives compromised — warm packs, damaged carton — don’t use the pens; contact us first.

Travelling with Mounjaro

Flying: carry pens in hand luggage, never the hold — holds can freeze medicines. Security teams are used to injectable medicines; if you’d like a prescriber’s letter for the airport, contact us.

Keeping cool: use an insulated medical travel case with cool packs, with a barrier so pens can’t freeze against them, and refrigerate at your destination. Keep pens out of direct sun and away from heat.

Disposal

Used needles go straight into a sharps bin. Return finished or spoiled pens to a pharmacy for safe disposal rather than putting them in household waste.
